Understanding that Google+ had a HUGE following within the first month of its debut, I think there was just a lot of buzz created about it. I, like many others, flocked to see what Google's newest tool had to offer. Not to say I've been disappointed because it is really neat and innovative, but I feel like most of the world is either 1) still learning how to use Facebook (there are just so many changes/updates all the time), 2) just getting a Facebook or 3) aren't acquainted with social media in the slightest.
My friends, family and professional contacts are big on using Facebook, Linkedin and Twitter. These three mediums, I believe, are the most used. Google+ has potential, but right now seems to be fellow PR students or PR professionals (since we need to be up on the latest tools), tech savvy individuals (who have been waiting for this to come) or some who stumbled across it (maybe their friend invited them to join).
After using Google+, I learned about the Hang Out option. This could quite possibly be the best thing to it. It makes it easy to share things and seems more conversational and real life than other tools. If I had more friends using Google+, I would probably get more into it. Right now, everyone is focused on Facebook.
A comedic illustration of Google+ vs. Facebook outlines, what I think, is holding people back from switching off of Facebook completely. The reason to keep Facebook is to communicate with friends, family and co-workers there who use that social media platform.
After viewing this YouTube video and reading the poll, I do believe Google+ is useful and will eventually overcome Facebook, but not in the immediate future.
