Extra Credit: Avatar Creation

When I saw the extra credit assignment to create an avatar, I was both excited and nervous. I was looking forward to creating one because I've done it in the past for my Yahoo! mail account, but that one seems a little outdated (I was a teenager when I created it). I was nervous because I wanted to make sure I was depicting myself in the proper light.

Below is my avatar, mini Rachel (as I've named it). I have blue eyes and blonde hair, but unfortunately couldn't find freckles to add to my avatar. I wish there was a height button, I would have made myself rather tall since I am 5'11''.

The website I used, www.DoppelMe.com, which was user-friendly and was free. If you joined their site, you had access to more things (different shirts, shoes, hair styles, etc.). The site allowed me to change the hair as I pleased, gave a variety of color options, how the lips are held and other things to really allow you to customize the avatar. I enjoyed clicking on different options to create the one I wanted and ended with one I like the best.

I found avatars are a creative way to express yourself and open a new part of online expression, meaning something you can create and not upload (a picture). They aren't supposed to give an exact replica of who you are or what you represent, but will provide a glimpse of your image and look at how you express yourself.
